oil on canvas, 9" x 12"

I wanted to focus on value and temperature with this piece so I used a very limited palette of titanium white, burnt sienna, ultramarine blue, and ivory black.

I also want to give a big thank you to fellow artist David Darrow for helping me with this painting by critiquing it on his internet painting show, Dave the Painting Guy. David usually paints live on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 5pm pacific time. David is quite funny and gives great painting tips as well, be sure to stop by sometime.

The limited palette and the direct gaze made this a very strong and interesting portrait, Sarah.

Excellent, Sarah! you really balanced the arms and cools nicely. It really has a great sense of light to it. It's a compelling piece, stands on its own.
